The City of Toronto has deemed Sunnyside Beach and Centre Island unsafe to swim in due to high levels of E.coli.Conditions for safe swimming are based upon E. coli counts in beach water samples taken over the past 24 hours, and the City of Toronto’s established beach water quality standard is 100 E.coli per 100 ml of water.Beaches that are still safe to swim in include Marie Curtis Park East Beach, Hanlan’s Point Beach, Gibraltar Point Beach, Ward’s Island Beach, Cherry Beach, Woodbine Beaches, Kew Balmy Beach and Bluffer’s Beach Park.In July, Cherry Beach, Sunnyside Beach and Centre Island Beach were all deemed unsafe as they exceeded the standard.Swimming is not recommended during and after storms, floods, or heavy rainfall, and the City says to look out for cloudy water as it can be an indicator of high levels of bacteria that may pose a risk to human health including increased risk of infections, including ear, eye, nose, throat and skin infections. NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — Israel’s prime minister on Sunday floated the idea of building infrastructure projects such as a fiber optic cable linking countries in Asia and the Arabian Peninsula with Europe through Israel and Cyprus.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he’s “quite confident” such an infrastructure “corridor” linking Asia to Europe through Israel and Cyprus is feasible. He said such projects could happen if Israel normalizes relations with other countries in the region. The 2020 U.S.-brokered Abraham Accords normalized relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, and the Biden administration is trying to establish official ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia.“An example and the most obvious one is a fiber optic connection. That’s the shortest route. It’s the safest route. It’s the most economic route,” Netanyahu said after talks with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. The Israeli leader’s pitch is itself an extension of proposed energy links w...3 teens charged in 7 robberies on Saturday across Chicago
