ST. LOUIS - Sergeant Kim Berry is a veteran and longtime first responder with the Florissant Police Department.When she was just 6 years old, she explored the inside of a Maryland Heights police car and decided she was going to become a first responder. After high school, she joined the Marines, where she served overseas, specifically in Afghanistan during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and then in Kuwait in support of Operation IRAQUI FREEDOM. During her military service, she achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. She then attended the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Academy and has been a first responder with the City of Florissant for 15+ years, where she is currently a Sergeant.Her passion for law enforcement meant assignments as a School Resource officer, which led her to create the Future Leaders Academy, a week-long free summer camp for teens to be introduced to various areas of law enforcement and other careers. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Two people were fatally shot in separate shootings in north St. Louis County within minutes.Police were called to Glen Owen Drive Near Bahama Drive at 8:46 p.m. Upon arrival, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. St. Charles asks residents to send pics of cars with illegal temp tags The officers explained that the shooting could have been the result of a robbery.Less than ten minutes later, a woman was found fatally shot on Whisper Lake Drive Near Blackjack. Officials of the Routt National Forest near Steamboat Springs are soliciting public comments regarding fee increases they have proposed at nearly three dozen recreation sites to fund improvements and deferred maintenance.Across the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests, which are jointly administered, there are 93 recreation sites where fee increases are being proposed, 33 of them in Colorado. The Medicine Bow National Forest is located in Wyoming and is contiguous with the Routt on the Colorado side of the state line.
